About Fanateer Beach and its history
A beach and seaside park in Jubail Industrial City.
Fanateer Beach is a beach and seaside park in the Fanateer district of Jubail Industrial City, on the Arabian Gulf coast in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province.
The origins of the beach are bound up with those of Jubail Industrial City itself, a planned city whose construction began in the 1970s under the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu as a centre for petrochemical industries. The city plan separated industrial zones from residential districts and provided those districts with parks and public facilities. The development of the Fanateer shoreline was part of that approach.
The site is noted for its well-kept lawns, palm trees and the walking and cycling paths that run beside the sea, and it has shaded shelters, seating and barbecue areas, children's playgrounds and service facilities. Residents use it for walking and family picnics, and it becomes crowded in the evenings and at weekends when the weather is mild. The beach is seen as an example of the attention given to landscape planning in Jubail Industrial City.
